Aylsham is a ancient town with all facilities. Aylsham is described by the Guardian as "an extraordinary ordinary delight", It is about 10 miles from the Coast, the Broads, and the beautiful cathedral city of Norwich.

Drabblegate River Cottage is in walking distance of the centre of the town. This is a red brick and pantiled cottage and has been renovated in keeping with its charming character including many beams and a 17th Century Inglenook fireplace. It is an idyllic setting with views across a narrow common (where a bench seat is provided by the water), the river and water meadows behind. The cottage is heated by storage heaters throughout which run on Economy 10 (night, afternoon and late evening), and a log burner.

On the first floor there is a double bedroom with a king size bed that can be configured as two single beds. There is a separate bathroom with bath and electric shower.

Downstairs there is also a double bedded bedroom with an en-suite shower room and toilet.

Upon request a cot and high chair are available.

Bedding provided is hypoallergenic and uses duvets. Towels are supplied but you will need to bring beach towels.

There is a pretty courtyard garden to the rear. At the front there is a small garden, small lane an area of common land and the River Bure.

Surrounding Area

Wildlife abounds around the cottage. It is on the edge of the National Trust Blickling Estate. The countryside is beautiful with quite lanes for cycling, and there is good walking from the cottage. There are two long distance paths for cycling and walking that go through Aylsham. There is also an excellent bus service to the coast and Norwich within 200 meters of the cottage. There are plenty of gastro-pubs in Aylsham and surrounding villages.
