Border Cottage in Briston

Briston, Norfolk

Description

"Eagerly awaiting your stay with us"

This fantastically well-appointed cottage has managed to keep all the charm that its 200 year age gives it while being decorated to a very high standard and affording all the warmth and comfort of a modern home.
Downstairs you will find the living room, with an exposed beam wall separating the dining area. There is a comfortable sofa, large TV and a wood-burning stove to give you a lovely place to curl up with a glass of wine.
The adjoining kitchen has all the essentials (oven, induction hob, microwave, plenty of cutlery & crockery, gorgeous copper pans, etc) and provides guests with plenty of surface space and equipment to prepare a full meal. With all that, the kitchen is a delight in itself. It retains its (probably) original coal-fuelled range cooker (though long since decommissioned) and is finished with plenty of exposed wood giving a fantastically traditional feel while still having all the 'mod-cons'.
The kitchen looks out into (and then out over the fields beyond) a sunroom that will be a favourite place for those who visit in the warmer months to sit in the evenings.

Finally, and conveniently, there is also a WC downstairs.

The upstairs, accessed via a traditional 'Norfolk Twister' staircase (being reasonably able-bodied is required for this) comprises a tranquil space to sleep and awaken to little noise other than birdsong. It is a large bedroom with a king-sized bed and en suite shower-room and boasts an adjoining dressing room too!

Outside Property

From the moment you arrive, you will be struck by the prettiness of this lovely cottage of traditional Norfolk red-brick and flint construction. As you cross the courtyard garden toward the house you will pass a little pond, complete with a hand-pump - a feature that adds a touch of charm. There is a further garden area to the rear of the property overlooking fields and trees for as far as the eye can see.

Surrounding Area

While a quiet Norfolk village, Briston doesn't disappoint in terms of amenities. There are wonderful shops available including butchers, bakers, a fishmonger, a Co-Op convenience store and grocers. Additionally, there are two pubs, both within walking distance and the nearby village of Melton Constable caters for those looking for Indian or Chinese cuisine 'to-go'.
There is plenty of exploring to be done in North Norfolk, and there are many 'must-do's' nearby: Holt (10 minutes) attracts visitors (including the Royal Family when they stay at Sandringham) all year round for its lovely cafés and boutique shops. Cley, Morston, and Salhouse (~15 minutes north-west) provide for some wonderful walks, especially for those into bird-watching. Seal-viewing boat trips are a great way to spend a day, leaving, from Blakeney (~20 minutes). A 'day at the seaside is very much on offer in the well-known Cromer and Sheringham (~20 minutes north-east) providing all the typical seaside town activities as does Wells-next-the-sea (~30 minutes north-west).
If a round of golf takes your fancy, there are some very high quality and mature links courses nearby. (Cromer, Sheringham, and Hunstanton being the best in easy range of Briston.) (There are also 9-hole courses for the beginner or those after a shorter game in West-Runton, Fakenham (at the race-course), and Mundesley.)
Norfolk's only city, Norwich, and the large town of Kings Lynn are both ~40 minutes away and also well worth a visit.
Parts of The Norfolk Broads (that span much of Norfolk) aren't far away and offer the opportunity to hire a boat for the day (booking recommended well in advance in the peak season) which is always a lovely day out.
The National Trust sites of Blickling and Felbrigg Hall are both ~15-20 minutes from Briston and the independent Holkham estate is ~30 minutes away and all are well worth a visit.
