Surrounding Area

Mill Lane is a quite road just off of the village away from the busy main coast road.
The nearby beach is a 5-10 minute walk away.
It is peaceful lane despite the nearby railway which is branch line running two/three carriages hourly from Cromer to Sheringham.
The Runtons are part of AONB popular with bird watchers & walkers.
It is possible to walk out of the house in both directions into Cromer (1.3 miles). Turning right up the lane past the mill following the railway and across countryside eventually brings you out close to Morrisons in the centre of Cromer. Alternatively walk down the lane into East Runton village, along the beach or coastal path towards Cromer pier. The pier can be seen from the beach access so you you will not get lost!
The village has a small friendly pub which serves food, a small butchers shop and a convenience shop open until 10pm selling essentials. It also has two small restaurants.
East Runton beach is a mixture of sand and pebble.
It has won blue flag awards, also having public toilets and RNLI lifeguards on duty during the summer months.
It is popular for families with children looking for crabs in the rock pools as well as walkers who wish to explore the coastal paths.
There are regular buses running in both directions along the coast road towards Sheringham, wells-next-sea, Hunstanton and Overstrand or Norwich.
Cromer has a mainline train station connecting Norwich & London.
This area of Norfolk is a good base to explore as there are a number of National trust properties, bird watching areas and beautiful beaches such as Holkham, Wells-Next-Sea, Happisburgh.
