The Gig House in Ridlington
Ridlington, Norfolk

Thank you for a wonderful min-break in your fabulous Cottage! The Gig House is a real “home from home” and had everything we needed and more! The local area offers so much for us and Milo. We can’t wait to come back – the bed is super comfy and Milo says thank you for the treats, also he loves his new toy. Happy New Year!

Thank you for a wonderful week. The Gig House is just perfect: from the lovely flowers and cake on arrival, the gorgeous garden and the really comfy beds! We have really enjoyed our stay in this wonderfully peaceful haven!
The Rothwell Family, July 2023
This has been our fifth visit to the Gig House and we have had another wonderful week -assisted in part by some brilliant weather! This was our puppy Cookie’s first holiday and he really loved the huge garden and the long, quiet beaches – he is going home a very tired but happy dog! We have all had a super time and just love the Cottage, especially its garden and the location.
Sleeping Arrangements
One double bedroom and one twin bedroom.
Outside Property
Enclosed garden with split level patio area, quarter acre of mown paddock, charcoal barbecue, table, chairs, cushions and sun parasol. Rotary clothes line.
There is side access to the paddock through a five bar gate, useful for dog walkers and for cyclists to store their bikes.
Driveway parking for two cars at the front of the property.
Surrounding Area
The small village of Ridlington nestles peacefully into the rural Norfolk landscape between the Sea and the Broads. There are pubs, long, un-crowded, sandy beaches, cafes and a dog park within easy walking distance of the Gig House.
The beautiful beaches of Mundesley, Happisburgh, Horsey, Waxham, Sea Palling and Overstrand are only a short drive away, as are the historic market towns of North Walsham and Stalham. The Victorian seaside town of Cromer and the vibrant City of Norwich both prove popular day trips from this location and there are also many National Trust properties and family attractions to enjoy.
This quiet, unspoiled part of Norfolk is renowned for big skies, wide open spaces, iconic lighthouses, stunning windmills and majestic Norman churches but there are plenty of pretty towns and villages, wood-land walks, country pubs and fabulous restaurants to discover as well. Several circular walks can be enjoyed from the front door of the Cottage and cyclists and walkers can easily access the 83 mile Norfolk Coastal Path, which is only a short walk from the property. In addition, there are numerous bird watching, fishing, photography, canoeing and boating opportunities in the Norfolk Broads. Another very popular activity is seal watching all year round on Horsey Beach, particularly during December and January when the seal pups are born.
Close to all amenities and attractions that make a good holiday great and a dog lovers and walker paradise. This property provides a great base from which to enjoy the wilds of Norfolk and is the perfect location for a traditional bucket and spade holiday, an active break, or a chance to just relax and let the world go by!

Victoria, June 2023
I have never stayed in a more well-equipped cottage and we have stayed in many. The cottage is in a quiet location with a private enclosed patio and lawn that was sunny all afternoon. It is also very close to deserted beaches and set in gorgeous countryside. The owners seem to have thought of all the details that make it a home from home. Awaiting us we found homemade cake and even milk in the fridge. I was also delighted to find a full-size hairdryer and diffuser, a magnifying mirror and good quality toiletries. I haven’t been to Norfolk since I was a child; this holiday has convinced me that it’s the best destination the UK has to offer.

Our fourth visit to the Gig House and nothing has changed (thankfully). The Gig House is still as wonderful as ever and the paddock - a dream for the dogs! Thoughtful touches, fantastic dog treats and the ever-welcoming, delicious cake on arrival. Thank you again and we will be back for a fifth time in 2023!
Phil and Linda, August 2022
Thank you for all the thoughtful extras in the Gig House and what a fabulous outdoor area! Our dog Jake was in his element. We really loved the proximity of the sea and walking the peaceful lanes of an evening. The fact that Happisburgh, Winterton on Sea, Blakeney, Cley and Sherringham Park were all only short drives away was the icing on the cake! We highly recommend the chip shop at Bacton, the Two Magpies at Blakeney and also Poppy Lands Café near Horsey for the largest cakes ever! Many thanks for a truly wonderful stay!
Mr Edward Shaw, April 2022
We have just had a beautiful Easter weekend at the Gig House. Trish made us so welcome. The place is so well equipped and I have never stayed anywhere so spotless! The enclosed sun trap garden was enjoyed by the dogs, and the welcome hamper for them was such a nice touch... as was the homemade lemon drizzle cake! Trish and Peter deserve every success... what lovely people. Thanks. We'll be back!
