Old Charlie's in Stiffkey
Stiffkey, Norfolk
Description
Old Charlie's is an archetypal traditional flint and brick detached cottage in Stiffkey, a pretty village sitting on the salt marshes of the North Norfolk coast.
This cosy and atmospheric cottage has recently been refurbished to the highest specification. It sleeps three (four with a pull-out bed suitable for children) and features include free Wi-Fi, wood burning stove, HD flat screen tv, DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine, Bluetooth speaker, DAB radio and a large selection of games. Much of the original artwork in the house is of local subject matter, as are many of the books in the extensive collection. Crabbing equipment is included!
Downstairs has solid oak flooring and the bedrooms and stairs are carpeted.
The cottage is detached, with no neighbours at all to one side or behind and as it is set down from the road, it affords guests great privacy. In 2018 the garden was extensively landscaped and extended.

Sleeping Arrangements
One double bedroom (king-size bed), one single with an optional extra single.
Outside Property
The large garden with extensive river frontage is particularly popular with our guests. It extends down to the banks of the little River Stiffkey with uninterrupted views of the peaceful valley from the private sunken riverside patio. A perfect spot to watch the local duck and swan (and owl) population drift by, the trout rise, or to make use of the barbeque and fire pit. There is ample garden furniture for dining and reclining.
An additional paved area has been added to the back of the house, also affording great views of the countryside.
There is off-road parking for one car (or two small ones).
Surrounding Area
The cottage is situated in the small, picture postcard village of Stiffkey, which boasts two shops and a fine pub. Stiffkey Stores is a pretty shop perfect for provisioning, fresh coffee, cakes and gifts. It also serves as the village Post Office.
Perfectly located between Blakeney and Wells-Next-The-Sea, for easy access to all the attractions this beautiful coast has to offer. Blakeney, Cley, Holkham, Titchwell and Snettisham nature reserves are all close by. Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path are a ten minute walk away. The vast and sublime beaches at Holkham and Wells are a mere ten minute drive.
To the north side of the cottage, and a short stroll away, is one of the largest expanses of undeveloped coastal habitats of its type in Europe. Blakeney National Nature Reserve is within the ownership of the National Trust. It includes Blakeney Point, Blakeney Freshes, Morston and Stiffkey Marshes and supports a wide range of coastal plant and bird communities, with many nationally important species.
As a bonus, The Red Lion pub is a mere 30 second hop from the front door. A popular and classic country inn, it serves great locally sourced food and beer. It is one of the plethora of top notch watering holes and restaurants within striking distance of Old Charlie's.
Holt, Wells and Burnham Market offer great local shopping opportunities. Norwich and King's Lynn are about an hour away.
Birdwatchers, walkers, real ale enthusiasts, epicurians and beach lovers will all find both the cottage and area a delight.
